W roku akademickim 2000/2001 seminarium geometrii algebraicznej IMPAN, zwane dalej impanga, poswiecone bylo KLASOM CHARAKTERYSTYCZNYM.. Seminarium odbywalo sie przecietnie raz w miesiacu (zwykle w poniedzialek) w budynku IM PAN w Warszawie przy ulicy Sniadeckich 8.

 W tym roku mialy miejsce 2 dlugie cykle wykladow: T. Szemberg mowil o idealach mnoznikow, P. Pragacz wyglosil cykl wykladow o kohomologiach kwantowych. Odbyly sie tez 2 mini-szkoly impangi: o klasach charakterystycznych dla rozmaitosci osobliwych cykle wykladow wyglosili P. Aluffi (MPI Bonn) i J. Sch"urmann (Uni-M"unster); cykl wykladow o stratyfikacjach przestrzeni moduli wyglosil G. van der Geer (University of Amsterdam). Oprocz tego uczestnicy impangi referowali wyniki wlasne i tematy zwiazane ze swoimi badaniami.

Long term activities of Impanga included this year: a semester course by B. Wajnryb “The braid group”, a series of lectures by T. Szemberg “Asymptotic base-points”, a series of lectures by P. Pragacz “Aspects of Schubert Calculus”, a series of lectures by H. Duan “Morse theory and homogeneous spaces”, a school “Schubert varieties” with series of lectures by M. Brion, A.S. Buch, R. Rimanyi, and H. Tamvakis, and a series of lectures by M. Szyjewski “Introduction to motivic cohomology”. Several research talks by participants took also place.

• PTM-IMPAN Colloquium Talk by H'el`ene Esnault "Rational points on Fano varieties" (14.11.2002).

• impanga 35 (15.11.2002): H'el`ene Esnault (University of Essen) was a guest of IMPANGA. She gave two lectures: 1. Algebraic Geometry Chern-Simons theory and a Riemann-Roch theorem (a joint work with S. Bloch). 2. Determinant of Gauss-Manin connection (a  joint work with A. Beillinson and S. Bloch).

• impanga 36 (29.11.2002) : 1. T. Szemberg: Asymptotic base-points III 2. Z. Jelonek: Non-projective three-folds; A generalization of Sard's theorem (a joint work with K. Kurdyka).

• impanga 39 (21.02.2003) : 1. P. Pragacz: Aspects of Schubert Calculus II: Standard Grassmannians and flag varieties: Pieri- Giambelli- and Monk formulas, different approaches to the Littlewood-Richardson rule. 2. B. Wajnryb: Components of the moduli space of surfaces (report on joint work with F. Catanese).

• PTM-IMPAN Colloquium Talk by A. Langer: “ The work of Laurent Lafforgue on Langlands' program” (6.03.2003).

• impanga 40 (7.03.2003) : 1. P. Pragacz: Aspects of Schubert Calculus III: Lagrangian Grassmannian, a connection of the Borel characteristic map to divided differences (following BGG and Demazure), Chevalley's multiplication formula, applications to Pieri-type formulas for G/P. 2. T. Szemberg: Asymptotic base-point sets of linear systems: a proof of the rationality of the jumping numbers (report on a joint work with Th. Bauer).

• impanga 45 (25.04.2003): 1. M. Szyjewski: Introduction to motivic cohomology I. 2. P. Pragacz: Sylvester double sums for subresultants and multi-Schur functions (report on a joint work with A. Lascoux).

ACADEMIC YEAR 2003/2004

Long term activities of Impanga included this year: a series of lectures by  M. Szyjewski “Introduction to motivic cohomology”, a series of lectures by  T. Szemberg "Base points in higher dimensions" , a series of lectures on the Infinite Grassmannian (by M. Chalupnik, A. Weber, H. Zoladek,  P. Pragacz and A. Langer) ,  a  school in Borovetz with series of lectures by M. Szyjewski (K-theory of schemes) and Z. Jelonek (Geometry of polynomial mappings), a session "Hommage a Grothendieck" at the Banach Center, a school in Krakow with lectures by: S. Cynk (CY-manifolds),  J. Kedra  (Mirror symmetry), T.  Maszczyk (Homological  Mirror symmetry), A. Weber (Almost toric 4-manifolds). Several research talks by participants took also place.

• The activities of impanga 53-62 took place at the: Conference AGAA (Borovetz, Bulgaria, Sept.23-Oct.03 2003) The following eight participants of impanga lectured in Borovetz: Marek Szyjewski gave a cycle of 5 lectures on “K-theory of schemes”, Zbyszek Jelonek gave a cycle of 5 lectures on “Geometry of polynomial mappings”, Adrian Langer lectured on “Moduli spaces of sheaves and Maruyama's conjecture” and on “Bound on the cohomology groups of sheaves with applications”, Tomek Szemberg gave two lectures on “Asymptotic invariants on linear systems”, Oskar Kedzierski spoke on “McKay correspondence”, Tomek Maszczyk lectured “On geometry of the representation site”, and Piotr Pragacz spoke on “Subresultants and Schur functions”.
