Let $d(c)$ denote the Hausdorff dimension of the Julia set of the polynomial $z^2+c$. We will discuss the behavior of the function $d(c)$ when the parameter $c$ tends to $-2$ along the rays. We will give an asymptotic formula for the directional derivative of $d(c)$ for all the rays, except the one which is inside the Mandelbrot set.
